ABOUT OUR COURSES
All of our Rigo Concept courses (an evolved Schroth model), are taught by Scoliosis-Certified Physical Therapists, who are trained directly by Dr. Manuel Rigo, our Medical Director and creator of the RIGO Concept. With our classes, you'll gain confidence, competence, respect, and success with a conservative approach to improving the quality of life for patients living with scoliosis and hyper-kyphosis. The treatment approach is evidence-based and billable to insurance using routine Physical Therapy CPT codes.
Online Base Course
Scoliosis and hyperkyphosis are often under-diagnosed and under-treated conditions in both children and adults. Whereas treatment for these conditions requires hands-on continuing education, online education is a cost-effective and efficient way to gain introductory knowledge. The Online Base Course gives clinicians an overview of the bio-psycho-social aspects of caring for patients with spinal deformity through a series of stimulating lectures from experts around the world. The course includes the fundamentals of diagnosis, classification, treatment indications, coordination of care, and best practices. The course serves as the launching point for physical therapists choosing to go the next step in taking the in-person courses for hands-on application of the Rigo Method –an evolution of the Schroth Method.

Level 1 Course
Pre-requisite: Base Course
The L1 Course builds upon the Base Course information about anatomy, etiology, clinical and radiological examination, curve classification, and treatment guidelines. The course then focuses on an in-depth understanding and application of the 3-D Principles of Correction using the Rigo Concept, based upon the original principles of Schroth. The treatment goals are to facilitate corrections of the altered posture and teach the patient to maintain corrections in daily living in order to minimize the progression of spinal deformity and optimize quality of life. Level 1 course teaches “unloaded” exercises for achievable and safe entry-level physical therapist clinical application. The course balances lecture and lab for each exercise position and includes a patient demonstration. Additional topics include bracing, home program prescription, and ADL education. Students will complete a written examination at the end of the course.

Level 2 Course
Pre-requisite: L1 Course and Acceptance of Case Reports
Our L2 Course promises to provide therapists with the perfect opportunity to advance their understanding and application of the Rigo Concept after they have been practicing in the clinic. Teachers answer common questions about the principles and help students refine their patient education and treatment techniques. Exercises are advanced to weight bearing positions and additional ideas are explored for optimization, modification and facilitation of corrections. The course balances lecture and lab for each exercise position and students will be practicing techniques on volunteers who have scoliosis. Teachers provide direct coaching to students to improve their techniques. Additional topics include discussion on adult and post-operative cases, and education on group and immersion therapy. Students present their case reports to the class, with case discussions to follow. Students complete a written and practical exam at the end of the course.

Virtual Coaching
Pre-requisite: L1 or L2 Course
Virtual Coaching provides BSPTS North America-trained therapists a personalized opportunity learn 1:1 or in small groups directly with a US BSPTS teacher of their choice, on the topic of their choice. VC is done using online technology similar to telehealth and video conferencing. Mentorships will be real-time interactions between therapists and teachers. Topics may include: coaching on individual cases, enhancing knowledge on certain principles, problem-solving on case management, or observing and coaching the therapist working directly with a patient. Whatever the goal, the aim is to provide a forum for BSTPS North America-trained therapists to continue to grow and learn according to their individual needs.
